Materials

Our CNC machine shop can mill most rigid materials including a variety of metals, plastics, and more. We often machine the following materials for our clients, listed below. If you don’t see your needed material listed or have any questions, Contact Us

Acetal

Acetal is a durable dielectric plastic with good heat resistance and minimal friction. It is chemical and moisture resistant and relatively strong.

Aluminum

  • 6061
  • 7075
  • 2024
  • Mic 6

Aluminum is lightweight and cost effective. It resists many chemicals and is a good conductor of heat and electricity. Because additional finishes are not needed, aluminum can be machined and processed quicker than other metals.

Brass

Brass Corrosion resistant and visually pleasing, brass often doesn’t need a finish coat. Brass can be quickly machined for your needs.

Bronze

Bronze has minimal oxidization. It has excellent resistance to corrosion is a good conductor material. Bronze also has minimal metal fatigue.

Copper

Copper is easily machined and shaped for any application. It is an excellent electrical and heat conductor. In addition, it is resistant to many types of corrosion.

Plastics

  • ABS
  • Acrylic
  • Delrin
  • Nylon
  • Peek
  • Polycarbonate
  • PTFE
  • Ultem
  • Vespel

ABS - Easily machined and versatile, ABS is a very popular plastic. It is incredibly resilient and has excellent durability. This plastic is heat, moisture, and impact resistant.

Acrylic - Acrylic is a versatile plastic. Acrylic can have various transparencies, depending on your need and application. Some of its properties include UV, chemical, and corrosion resistance.

Nylon - Resistant to heat, chemicals, and abrasion, nylon is durable and easy to machine. It has minimal friction and is excellent for parts that will rotate or slide.

Polycarbonate - Polycarbonate is a strong, transparent plastic. Other properties include impact resistance, heat resistance, and easily machined.

PTFE - PTFE is dielectric, cost effective, durable, and easily machined. It has minimal friction and is non-stick. PTFE is resistant to both moisture and chemicals.

Steel

Steel parts are usually stronger than aluminum but can take longer to machine. There are a variety of alloys with various attributes to best fit your need. Steel is excellent for a variety of shapes, including enclosures.

Stainless Steel

  • 303
  • 304
  • 316
  • 17.4
  • 420
  • 440

Stainless Steel is a strong, corrosion resistant material and does not require a finish. Because of its hardness, machining costs are higher. Stainless steel is also able to withstand high temperatures.
